Excessive heat in Sri Lanka

HEAT_WAVEThe excessive heat experienced at present in Sri Lanka would decrease within the next few days states Department of Meteorology. Due to gradual cessation of the North-East monsoon and the commencement of inter-monsoonal climatic conditions thunder showers would occur at certain areas in the island points out the Department of Meteorology adding that this would ease the heat experienced at present.

Accordingly, certain areas in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, Southern, Uva provinces would experience thunder showers during evenings and mornings states Department of Meteorology adding that these areas would experience extensive heat on days that would not have any rain and these conditions would continue for the next two months. The extensive heat is due to the Earth moving closer to the Sun during this period points out the Department of Meteorology and states Kurunegala would experience the highest temperature during this period which is 38 degrees Celsius.
