On the way to Trincomalee is the small town of Kanniyai ((Kal = stone; niya = land) where lie seven hot springs. All these springs are within a rectangular enclosure of high walls. The springs are seperated from one another by
dwarf walls. The water is mildly hot; the temperature varies but slightly in each. In effect, a public bathing resort, the use of the springs is controlled by the neighboring Mari Amman Kovil. There are 257km distance from Colombo to Kanniyai. Reference from go-lanka.com
